Each user of our platform has a custom and private Contact Book. In addition, each user can “enable” information sources for their Contact Book. By default, each user will have the Nexodex.com social network as an information source. In addition, each user can enable other social networks (as long as they allow access). Each source basically has its own set of information. Our platform looks at the information coming in from each source, and shows you new info and updates. It then lets you decide what to pull in and store in your Contact Book. You can see all of the information from each source side by side, allowing you to choose which is the latest and most accurate. The diagram below demonstrates how this looks and functions.
Social capital refers to the links, connections and networks that people have built in social networks over the past 5 + years. These links and networks are extremely valuable, and more and more social networking sites are allowing their users to take these links with them. In the case of Nexodex.com, these links and networks are used to create a Contact Book with the most up-to-date information through these links.
Nexodex.com will allow you to aggregate all of the social capital
you have built in social networks and in other locations in one custom,
auto-updating and completely user controlled Contact
Book.
Nexodex.com has a table associated with each of your sources. Each table is regularly synched with its source, often via secure API in the case of social network sources. Our technology searches these tables for new info and updates, and then brings anything it finds to you. You can also look at each source specifically.
LinkedIn is a social network. Therefore there is no user-side customization. In essence the only information you can have on a contact in a LinkedIn contact book is the profile they provide. Additionally, you cannot have contact book entries who are not LinkedIn users, and your only source of information is the LinkedIn network.
Plaxo is a pioneer of social networks and allowing people to aggregate
their social capital. We share the same goal in allowing people to freely
aggregate and use their social capital in a central contact book, but we enlist
different solutions. Plaxo automates the synch process. We display all info
sources to the user and allow him/her to control the flow of information and
synchronization. We feel that synchronization is much more trustworthy in the
hands of the user (as long as it doesn’t become cumbersome), which ultimately
results in more trustworthy content.
Yes. All of your info, notes, tags and information entered on your contacts is completely private. Other users cannot see it, and your contact cannot see it. This is a one-way pathway.
No. We feel that this would degrade the service we are offering. One of the most important aspects of contact management is privacy, we do not want to jeopardize this and we feel that advertising may do just that.
Nexodex.com has its own social network as one of its sources. Each user of our platform is also a user of our social network by default. Our social network has two types of users, individuals and organizations. Organizations such as non-profits, schools and charities pay a fee to be able to use our social network to stay in touch with individual users (as long as that is OK with the individual user).
We have chosen to pair with organizations for two main reasons.
1) This is much less intrusive to individual users: we
think that it is much more benign for an individual user to be connected with
their university or favorite charity, than with a corporation that is trying to
sell them something.
2) Organizations can benefit immensely from this
technology, and have been given little chance to access it. Being able to help
these groups pursue noble and extraordinary causes is incredibly rewarding for
everyone involved.
Our potential clients are any organizations which need to stay in touch with its constituents for support and ultimately survival and growth. Our current clients include schools, non-profits and charities.
We have a huge set of future initiatives which are very exciting. Two noteworthy aspects for contact management are upkeep reminders (be reminded to reach out to a contact on a certain day, or at a certain interval) and network visualization (see large nodal contacts, contacts across industries and more).
